Instagram, Ruby and Our Village…..
Writing this blog has been a journey, even in such a short time, both professionally and
personally. Professionally it has opened doors, I’ve been asked to write a piece for a local magazine. Some of my recent photographs are being used in advertising literature. In addition I’ve set up a Social Media business to help local small business, all this has been due to writing a blog.
Personally it has given me a new direction that I never imagined at the beginning of the year, I’m meeting some brilliant and creative people, who I will be introducing to you over the next few months…..So exciting times! But also through the blog I’ve begun to appreciate my home and surroundings more, I was taking so much for granted, my family, my friends and the beautiful part of the world I live in. But before I go any further let me introduce you to a very important lady in my life, Ruby…..
Ruby is my dog, she a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, 4 years old and a very loyal companion.
She loves, walking, chicken, her soft toy tiger {called ‘Tiger’ original hey!} hugs and my son Toby.
We walk together every day and at home she sits at my feet whilst I work. When we are on our walks I take photo’s on my phone, which I post on Instagram. And its been through posting these images I began to see my village in a whole new light. My followers are from different parts of the world, Russia, China and America to name a few. I was ‘liking’ all their images of their lives and surroundings as it was so different to mine, and they were commenting on how beautiful my part of the world is, that was it, my light bulb moment, YES it is beautiful! So now I take time on our walks to stop, look, breath and take in how lovely it is and how lucky I am…..
About a 2 minute walk from our front door in Pendle, Lancashire are fields, they are lush and bright with the early summer new growth of Buttercups, Cow Parsley and field grasses…..
In the winter the walk to the fields is as rewarding, but for different reasons, it sparkles, it glistens with frost, it crunches under foot. The bare silhouettes of the trees share glimpses of the village you don’t see in mid summer behind the leaves…..
But Ruby’s favourite walk is around the reservoir, we leave the house, go past the church and a 30 minute walk takes us around the lake, with a view of Pendle Hill that’s picture perfect in peaceful surrounding.
Then home again and time for a snooze for little legs!
So where ever you are, stop for a moment, and look around you, really look, you’ll be amazed what you actually do see…..
kind regards
